  • Career Fair Registration Open!

    The beginning of May usually means classes at the University of Alberta (U of A) are done. It also means registration for CAPS’ career fairs, mixers and information sessions in 2012 and 2013 are now open.

  • Hire a student to work on e-business and receive government wage subsidy!

    Your firm may receive financial support towards the employment of post-secondary students who will work on e-business projects. The Government of Canada will reimburse up to 75 % of the eligible wages and related expenses such as statutory employee benefits, to a maximum of $10,000. Your firm is responsible for covering other expenses such as fringe benefits and overhead costs.

    In the December 3, 2011 edition of the Calgary Herald, James Wood reported an item titled Alberta Privacy Czar Cautions Employers on using Social Media during Hiring that organizations think twice before logging into Facebook or Twitter to vet potential employees or volunteers.

  • CAPS Celebrates 25 Years - Open House

    1986… the year that Ferris Bueller took his day off, the Bangles taught us how to ’Walk like and Egyptian’ and career services at the U of A were established! Come celebrate with CAPS as we kick off our 25th year in true 80’s CAPS style – with music and magic, a walk down memory lane and a look to the future! It wouldn’t be a CAPS party without food, so there will also be delicious refreshments. You can leave your 80’s wear at home though - that’s something better left in that decade.
